Undergraduate Research Students

Sebastiano Iacono

Hi! My name is Sebastiano Iacono, and I am a second-year undergraduate student majoring in Honors Psychology with a minor in Sociology. I am currently working on my Honors thesis with Dr. Tasmia Hai on the needs and difficulties faced by newcomer/immigrant families in relation to support for their children. I am particularly interested in researching communication-based resources for immigrant parents and gaining insight into the perspectives of immigrant families regarding academic support/resources. In the future, I hope to pursue graduate studies in clinical psychology

Kaya Costanzo

My name is Kaya and I am a third-year undergraduate student pursuing a major in Psychology and a double minor in Behavioural Science and Italian Studies. My research interests primarily center on the connections between personality and psychopathology. This year, I will be working on a project in the CAAR Lab investigating how clinicians in Canada have been adapting psychotherapeutic programs and interventions to accommodate culturally and ethnically diverse clients. In the future, I would like to pursue a career in clinical or counselling psychology. In my spare time, I enjoy going to concerts and spending time with friends and family.

Lilia Lounis

I’m Lilia, an undergraduate student at McGill. I study Psychology. I love learning about the human mind and about self-development. My current goal is to become a clinician, so that I can fulfill my professional purpose : that of guiding people to a better quality of life. In my free time, I love lifting weights, reading Greek mythology, and writing stories and personal reflections :)

I’m interested in research regarding psychotherapeutic interventions and practices. I want to study what improves and hinders mental health. I’m fascinated by theories on human motivation, self-esteem, and stress/anxiety.

I’m working on the “Equity in Mental Health Care” project. Our purpose is to gather in-depth knowledge from Canadian mental health providers who currently serve immigrant families of diverse backgrounds about how their methods are tailored to support these specific groups.
